March 4th, 2009 — St John
I have successfully completed my first duty as a first aider. It was a quiet night there was only one call for St John during the game and myself and my partner were the ones to answer it!! The rest of the time I enjoyed watching the game, Portsmouth played quite well but couldn’t hold on for the draw
At least I have some cover where I was and didn’t get soaked like some of the guys there who unfortunately drew the short straw and were based in the corner with no cover!
Fratton station was very busy as I was trying to make my way home, unluckily for me and for the hundreds of others at the railway station there was signaling problems and the trains were all severely delayed, My train was 50 minutes late and I got home around Midnight in the end.
I’m looking forward to doing more duties with St John Ambulance and I hope the weather is better next time.

Having passed my assessment yesterday I have my first duty as a first aider tonight, Im going to Fratton Park to provide first aid cover for Portsmouth v Chelsea. I used to watch Portsmouth a lot when I was younger and had saturdays off, That was before they went into the Premiership though.
I’m really looking forward to it and I hope the rain lets off a bit or I might get a bit wet.

It was a while ago now but Portsmouth Football Club where awarded the freedom of the city of portsmouth for winning the FA Cup. I covered the event for Pugwash Online.
The Photos I took I have put on my photography website. I have got some rather good ones of Defoe in particular I really enjoyed the scrum of people trying to take photos, it was a freezing cold day but it was worth it.
