Duty and South West Trains

I have successfully completed my first duty as a first aider. It was a quiet night there was only one call for St John during the game and myself and my partner were the ones to answer it!! The rest of the time I enjoyed watching the game, Portsmouth played quite well but couldn’t hold on for the draw :(

At least I have some cover where I was and didn’t get soaked like some of the guys there who unfortunately drew the short straw and were based in the corner with no cover!

Fratton station was very busy as I was trying to make my way home, unluckily for me and for the hundreds of others at the railway station there was signaling problems and the trains were all severely delayed, My train was 50 minutes late and I got home around Midnight in the end.

I’m looking forward to doing more duties with St John Ambulance and I hope the weather is better next time.

Fratton Park Duty

Having passed my assessment yesterday I have my first duty as a first aider tonight, Im going to Fratton Park to provide first aid cover for Portsmouth v Chelsea. I used to watch Portsmouth a lot when I was younger and had saturdays off, That was before they went into the Premiership though.

I’m really looking forward to it and I hope the rain lets off a bit or I might get a bit wet.

I Passed!!

I passed my Assessment for Role with St John Ambulance, I can now go on duty as a first aider!!

I have 2 duties next week at the student union and a comedy gig at the Guildhall at the end of the month.

Java Completed

I have finished my Java Coursework now I quite enjoyed doing it in the end, Java is growing on me. I hope I have a good mark

Google Mail Down

I went to login to my email and shock horror it wouldn’t work. I have Google Apps email on my Student Union email and on my photography site and they are both down :(

Hopefully they will solve the problem soon, It might be a good idea to setup Thunderbird again, its just I love the gmail interface :) Screenshot

In other news I’m working on my Java and actually getting somewhere!

24 Hour Broadcast

PureFM had a 24 hour broadcast in aid of RAG.

I attended with my camera and had a great time! It was non stop comedy the whole way through.

Even the 7am football was a good laugh if nothing else it kept us awake!

I will add some pictures later, need to catch up on some sleep first!

Well done to everyone for raising over £1000

Snow!

We have had a fairly decent covering of snow over the last few days. I love snow but I hate it when it causes disruption to my day. I needed to go to London on Monday and couldn’t go because the trains were not running.  I ventured down to Portsmouth on Monday evening for LINKS, not to bad getting there but getting back took a while!

I have been out with my camera and I have taken loads of pictures of the snow, I will post some on here very soon. I’m using the time I have off to sort out a few photos in my backlog and I might get around to playing a few more levels of Company of Heros if my dad ever gets of MY PC

Exams and Coursework

Been really busy recently with exams and coursework at Uni, hence the lack of updates.

I had two of my exams last week, both of which went well. I gave in my Network Protocols coursework yesterday, yes on a sunday!, Got my network proposal to do today and tomorrow for wednesday and an exam on friday.

Then its an all out effort to get my Java programming done.

Plane crashes in new york river

I was shocked to hear last night that a plane had come down in a new york river, what is more amazing is that no one was killed thanks to the skill of the pilot. He should get a medal for his actions.

At last the end of DRM

I was discussing recently on the NetworkTP Computer Support Forum, about DRM and how I think companies are moving away from it. And now the Market Leader Apple has annouced that it is ending DRM as well, this is fantastic news for music lovers everywhere! DRM ruins music, you can’t play it on what you want and you can’t have it on that many machines. If they were to get cheaper as well, it might slow down illegal downloading.

BBC News

I hope they remove the DRM on all the old stuff as well
